Ok, I've never done a close reading essay before, and my topic is "Sonnet 45" by Philip Sidney. I'll give you guys my outline, please give me feedback.

Central Idea - Sidney is a teenager coping with emotions he is unfamilar with, and cannot come to terms with the realization that the girl he pines for refuses him.

Intro/Thesis - Sir Philip Sidney was born in a time when the emotional limbo between childhood and adulthood had not yet been acknowledged. Regardless of this, he was still plagued by adolescent feelings and the typical awkwardness associated with expressing them. One particular work of his, "Astrophil and Stella Sonnet 45", makes his sentiment painfully clear. Sidney pours his heart out to the reader, showing his desperation through language, the imagery created with such, and the underlying tone imprinted on the very core of this piece.

Paragraph 1 Topic Sentence - The language Sidney uses in "Sonnet 45" conveys his discontent at the situation between himself and his unrequited love, Penelope, clearly and makes the reader connect with him in his plight.

Paragraph 2 Topic Sentence - It becomes apparent that Sidney is trying to bring a particular image through in this poem.

Paragraph 3 Topic Sentence - The underlying tone is melancholy, desperate.

Conclusion - The world did not allow adolescents' the luxury of delayed responsibility until one reached the age of eighteen in Sidney's time; with puberty came all the hardships of adulthood, and yet, he was still forced to endure the onslaught of teenage emotions.

I'm worried it might be too repetitive.
